我第一次体会到了什么叫“克己奉公”。有一次，您的小儿子要吃红烧肉，您的妻子答应了。可当她刚一出门，就碰上了您。您说把钱送给别人了，不要买肉了。晚饭桌上，您把一个玉米窝窝头给小儿子，他却哭闹着把玉米窝头扔在地上，叫着要吃肉。您一气之下打了孩子，让他把窝头捡了起来，并耐心地说，有窝头已经很不错了，多少人连这还吃不上呢！小儿子终于含泪抽泣着答应再也不扔窝头了。看着小儿子那瘦弱单薄的身子，相信您的心里也是一阵酸楚吧！这件事在我们现在这些生活优越的孩子来说，是多么不可思议呀！天下竟有因孩子要吃肉这么小的事而打儿子的父亲。但我知道，您是爱孩子的，但您更爱兰考县的群众。
我第一次知道了什么叫“全心全意为人民服务”。车站上，您帮乘客提包袱、拿重物；节日里，您为孤寡老人送米送钱；百姓家里，您发动群众战胜灾害；办公室里，您动员干部为民着想……
四十二年，短暂的时光，您积劳成疾，走得太匆忙了。如果您现在还在世的话，您就能继续为兰考县的群众服务，也能亲闭差眼目睹兰考县的变化：现在的兰考，工农业水平都有了很大的提高。铁路、公路的运输、通信都有了跨世纪的发展，人民也摆脱了贫困，走上了富裕的道路。
